is sleep depravation a good thing?

in high school my friend always insisted that you can test better when you're tired. she never slept. and she managed to do pretty well. in high school i barely studied, and there was no way i needed eight hours to study that i would stay up all night.

but now I'm really tired. and kind of sleep deprived. and I'm going to take a test in a half hour. so I'll find out if my friend's theory is true, or if it only worked for her.

well sometimes i got one or two hours of sleep a night in high school and i broke down crying in the middle of class during senior year a couple of times. everybody thought it was pretty funny actually.

as for testing, i doubt sleep deprivation can help you. maybe your friend was feeling something of an adrenaline rush when she sat down to take the test. hm. anyway hope you do well!!

people who are sleep deprived feel like they test better, but actualy they make many more careless mistakes or misread questions and all that. They did studies on it.

Have you tried any of our suggestions? I, for one, am worried about you.

ha i'm just kidding. i did totally fine. i was tired though. but so was everyone else because there were twenty five stations with two minutes for each station and we had to stand the whole time...

i actually think i did very well

I'm always afraid to go to sleep late, I think if I don't have the right amount of hours that I won't be able to function the next day. (I guess its been so much ingrained in me)

Glad you did well though!

Well, whenever I have a test I just can't sleep the night before anyway it's some sort of ayin hara, and it's not because I'm studying the whole time. I study about an hour before the exam and I'm usually good. Also, I'm a night person as well and can't stand daylight. Sunlight makes me squint. I think morning was the real time designated for sleep that's why I set up all my classes in the evening when i can stay awake.

I notice that I write better when I'm tired.

I'm generally a bad test taker, so I can't compare how I do when I'm tired, and how I do when I'm not-so tired (I never get enough sleep, night time is the only time I can focus on myself)
